# ChatGPT connector

> Connect Synthesia to ChatGPT and create videos from a conversation.

Synthesia is listed in the [ChatGPT marketplace](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6a6c6ebc8f74819197497c772358751b), so you don't need Developer Mode. Make sure you meet the [prerequisites](/docs/synthesia-mcp#prerequisites) first.

## Connect a personal account

1. Open ChatGPT and select `Plugins` in the sidebar. Depending on your account, you may find it under `Settings` → `Apps` instead.

2. Search for Synthesia and select the `+` button next to it (or `Install plugin` or `Connect`, depending on your account).

3. Sign in to your Synthesia account, review the requested permissions, and select `Allow access`.

4. Confirm you can tag Synthesia in a message box, then try a prompt using it.

## Connect as a workspace member

Use these steps if you're joining a workspace where an admin has already enabled Synthesia.

1. Open ChatGPT and go to `Settings` → `Apps` (or `Plugins`).
2. Find Synthesia and select `Connect`.
3. Sign in to your Synthesia account and review the requested permissions.
4. Confirm you can tag Synthesia in a message box, then try a prompt using it.

> **Note**
>
> On ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu workspaces, admins control whether Synthesia is enabled by default. If Synthesia doesn't appear or shows `Disabled by admin`, ask your workspace admin to enable it from `Workspace settings` → `Apps`.

## Turn on Synthesia in a chat

1. Start a new chat.
2. Tag Synthesia in the message box.
3. Ask for a video. To create a Syren video, include "use Syren" in your prompt.

## Refresh the plugin

If we update the server's tool list or descriptions, ChatGPT may keep showing the old list. Ask your workspace admin to refresh the plugin:

1. Go to `Settings` → `Plugins` → `Synthesia` → `Actions`.
2. Select `Refresh`.
